Philosophy, missions, and goals clearly stated......
Hispanic youth new to Crete area are
faced with many challenges, most notably language barriers and community attitudes
toward newcomers. Minority youth need encouragement, the opportunity, and guidance
to help them develop leadership skills and assume leadership roles in the school
and community. To do so, financial support is needed to provide personnel who
have the skills and experience in reaching this special group of both youth
and adults who can interact together to create social change in Crete community.
Thus, the goal of this project is to engage Hispanic youth, the Crete community,
and organizations in partnerships to develop youth leathers within Hispanic
community at school and in the Crete community. This fits with the Crete Public
Schools mission statement: “To achieve excellence in education, to provide
an opportunity to develop each student’s maximum potential, to develop
the unique capabilities of all students, and to instill the knowledge and skills
necessary for each student to be productive and adaptive in our changing world.”
