First Flight is a fun, accessible and inclusive youth sports experience for Crete Public Schools students of all abilities and backgrounds to develop an understanding of activities, develop skills and promote physical well-being alongside peers.
First Flight Fall ‘22
First Flight has several camp offerings for the Fall of 2022. After setting up registration in TeamSnap, students can choose the camps they would like to attend. Please pay close attention to the dates, times, location and age levels when registering.
Catch With The Cardinals
- K - 5th Grade Girls Softball
- Wednesdays; 5:30 - 6:00 pm
- August 31 - September 21
- Cardinal Softball Field (Just north of Crete Middle School)
Students will work with the Cardinals’ High School Players and Coaches to work on the fundamentals of throwing and Catching. First Flight will have balls & gloves available for use by students who do not have their own.
1st & 2nd Grade Volleyball
- Wednesdays; 4:00 - 5:00 pm
- August 24th - September 28th.
- Crete Elementary School
Students will be instructed in the basics of volleyball in a fun environment. A variety of age appropriate games will be incorporated into the instruction but formal matches will not be played.
3rd - 6th Grade Volleyball
- Tuesdays & Thursdays; 4:15 - 5:30 pm.
- August 23rd - September 27th.
- Crete Elementary School
Students will be instructed in the basics of volleyball in a fun environment. A variety of age appropriate games will be incorporated with the goal of competing in intrasquad matches as the students’ skills & understanding progress.
Transportation from the Intermediate Building to the Elementary School will be available with more information provided after registration is complete.
3rd - 6th Grade Flag Football
- Wednesdays & Fridays; 4:00 - 5:00 pm
- August 24th - September 23rd.
- Cardinal Track (Just Northeast of Crete Intermediate)
Students will be instructed in fundamentals of throwing, catching and blocking. Additionally; Some of the basic plays and formations used by Crete High School will be taught. Students will progress to competing in 7 on 7 Flag Football Scrimmages as the season progresses.
Adult Volunteers Needed

- For any adult or parent interested in coaching youth sports.
We will teach participants the keys to creating a great experience for young athletes. Additionally, we will introduce the participants to resources which provide great advice on how to coach kids as well as delve into sport specific drills and advice. Finally, we will teach the participants how to use the TeamSnap app for managing a team.
This training is not sport specific and relevant to working with young athletes in any season, any sport.
