πΎπ Crete FFA Shines at Nebraska State Convention! ππΎ
What a week it's been for our Crete FFA Chapter at the Nebraska FFA State Convention! Our students have shown incredible dedication, skill, and passion for agriculture, and it all paid off with outstanding results across multiple contests. Here's how we did:
π§ Ag Mechanics and Technology CDE
π₯ 4th Place Team β out of the top 60 teams in Nebraska!
π
Alex Eltze β 8th place individual out of 239
π Nick Eltze β 18th place | Owen Kennedy β 20th place
This contest tested students in hydraulics, engines, electricity, and equipment repair, including a high-stakes electrical practicum wiring a 3-way circuit in 15 minutes!
π Environmental & Natural Resources CDE
π₯ 2nd Place Team β out of 78 top teams!
π
Alex Eltze β 3rd Place Individual
π
Nick Eltze β 8th Place Individual
π Mason Snider β 13th Place
This competition required species ID (including by scat!), soil science, and environmental practice knowledge. We are next in line for Nationals if the top team cannot attend!
π¬ Agriscience (Freshman-Only)
Our freshmen successfully competed, completing two dissections as part of their contest. Amazing job!
π³ Parliamentary Procedure
π
Bronze Medal β One of the top 36 teams statewide!
Students ran a meeting using Robertβs Rules of Order, making 10 motions in 10 minutes with thoughtful debate and decision-making. An incredible feat!
π€ Creed Speaking β Bryson Woods
π
Bronze Medalist
Bryson recited the five-paragraph FFA Creed from 1928 and reflected on its personal meaningβan amazing achievement just to make it to state!
π These accomplishments came from early mornings, late nights, and weekend practices. Weβre especially excited for our non-seniors to return next year stronger than ever!
π State FFA Degrees Earned
π Nick Eltze, Alex Eltze, Owen Kennedy, Josiah Harrington
Four of our seniors earned the highest state-level FFA honor, a milestone that requires 4 years of dedication and a rigorous interview process. In past years, weβve only had one recipientβthis year, we had FOUR!
π Chapter & Alumni Recognition
π± Recognized for our work in the Connecting Chapters Ag Literacy program, partnering with elementary students.
π Our Alumni Chapter received a Gold Plaque for outstanding supportβthank you to Greg Hollman and all the local farmers behind the scenes!
π¬ We are incredibly proud of all our students. Their accomplishments are a result of perseverance, passion, and a true love for agriculture. These are HUGE wins for our chapter and our community. The future is bright, and we're just getting started!

NATIONAL SCHOOL LIBRARIAN DAY
On April 4th each year, National School Librarian Day recognizes the professionals who keep the school library in working order. School librarians spend long hours keeping the library organized. They are also dedicated to helping our children find the resources they need to keep learning. School librarians are the people who create an environment where students can learn every day of the year. Their work is an impressive accomplishment.

CHS Academy Students Explore SCC at Discovery Day
On Friday, April 4, twenty-five students from the CHS Academy Business Pathway class attended Southeast Community Collegeβs Discovery Day in Lincoln. During the visit, students explored SCCβs Programs of Study, learned about financial aid options, and got a firsthand look at what SCC has to offer. The day included a campus tour, an insightful panel discussion with current students and faculty, and a complimentary lunch. It was a valuable opportunity for students to start thinking about their future pathways and life after high school.

Overview
The egg drop project is a time-honored tradition in many science classrooms. Students build a device to protect an egg and prevent it from breaking when dropped. This project typically relates to lessons about Newton's laws of motion or potential and kinetic energy. However, it is also a great way for students to practice the engineering design process, and learn about the importance of design iteration and learning from failure.
Learning Objectives
Do background research, brainstorm, and prototype an egg drop design
Iteratively test and improve the design
Communicate information about the design process
NGSS Alignment
This lesson helps students prepare for these Next Generation Science Standards Performance Expectations:
MS-ETS1-2. Evaluate competing design solutions using a systematic process to determine how well they meet the criteria and constraints of the problem.
MS-ETS1-4. Develop a model to generate data for iterative testing and modification of a proposed object, tool, or process such that an optimal design can be achieved.

Paraprofessional Appreciation Day is celebrated annually on the first Wednesday of April each year.
A huge thank you to our paraprofessionals for your incredible dedication and hard work. Your support makes a real difference in our students' lives and your guidance is instrumental to their success!

This week! Family Learning Night: Wednesday, April 6:30 PM-8:00 PM at Crete Middle School
Activities for families with students of all ages.

Each year the NSAA and the NCPA recognize students during Fall, Winter, and Spring Seasons who are nominated by their schools for their individual academic excellence, leadership, and significant contributions in their NSAA activity.
Congratulations to these Crete Cardinals!!
