Can you believe it? The last day of preschool is already tomorrow, Thursday, May 14th! We want to thank you all for sending your child to our preschool this year. We have truly loved teaching each and every one of them and appreciate you entrusting us with their early education.
For Our Students Going to Kindergarten
Congratulations to our rising Kindergarten students! We are so proud of you and hope you have a great start to the new school year. Kindergarten begins on August 19, 2026.
For Our Returning Preschool Students
If your child is still in preschool, please make sure they are enrolled for the 2026-2027 school year to secure their spot. Letters will be sent home this summer notifying you about acceptance and placement in preschool.
The first day of preschool for the 2026-2027 school year will be Monday, August 24, 2026.

πΈ Daniel Martinez is a Peruvian-born Flamenco guitarist, composer, educator, and performer.
π Martinez has performed across South America, Canada, Mexico, and the United States, earning recognition for his mastery of classical guitar and Latin styles including Flamenco, Rumba, Bossa Nova, Jazz, Bolero, and Bachata.
π He is a guitar professor at Nebraska Wesleyan University and Union Adventist University, owner of Daniel Martinez Music, and a touring and teaching artist. He has also served as a guest artist for the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C.
π Martinez has released four solo instrumental recordings and received the 2023 Lincoln Mayor's Choice Award, the 2023 Here's to the Heroes Award, and the 2025 Nebraska State Arts Outstanding Artist Award.

Crete Elementary partnered with the Crete Public Library to host Dinosaur Dimensions!
Dinosaur Dimensions brought dinosaurs to life for the students with a thrilling live performance, realistic animatronic creatures and interactive storytelling!
The unforgettable prehistoric adventure was packed with excitement, laughs and larger-than-life dinosaurs.
Crete Public Library has set a community goal of reading 3,000 books before July 31 as part of its summer reading program. Theyβre encouraging everyone to help reach the goal by registering and participating this summer.
The library will also host a variety of family friendly events open to the public throughout the entire summer. Stop by the library for more information.

Mr. Menefee would like to thank all the participants in the 2nd Grade Art Contest. The first place winner was Avery with her forest diorama. The second place winner was Sofia with her Snoopy drawing and the third place winner was Augusta with her model of an axolotl. Congratulations to our three winners.

Nurse Carmen has been named the 2026 Nebraska School Nurse of the Year! We are very fortunate to have Nurse Carmen taking care of our students and staff at Crete Elementary.
Nurse Carmen advocates for our students and consistently supports their needs while providing compassionate care. On a daily basis, she goes above and beyond to connect families and community resources. She provides support to her colleagues and brings positivity and a smile to every interaction.

From the early morning prep to the friendly smiles in the serving line, our cafeteria staff are more than just cooksβthey are superheroes in aprons. They navigate allergies, picky eaters, and tight schedules, all while making sure every child gets a nutritious meal with a side of kindness. π₯β¨
