This week, 10/11 meteorologist, Carmelo Lattuca, came to visit with our kindergarteners. He taught them more about severe weather and how to recognize bad and good clouds. He also explained his job as a meteorologist to wrap up our kindergarten seasons and weather unit. Our kindergarteners were also on the 10/11 news.
Our kindergarteners investigated what plants need to survive by making a claim and observing evidence over time. They compared plants that received different resources and discussed whether the plants showed evidence to support their claim that plants need water and light to grow.

Crete Elementary students are getting into a striking unit in PE. They started off with striking balloons using paddles. Most of the balloons stayed in the air!
The students at Crete Elementary had a December fitness challenge to help students stay active over winter break. The students who turned their calendar in with each exercise completed earned a Doane Track and Field jersey that was signed by many of the Doane athletes!

In the Kings and Queens domain, kindergarten student listened to read alouds about kings and queens and royal families. Both the fiction and nonfiction selections built students’ understanding of the responsibilities, lifestyle, and customs associated with royalty throughout history and present day. Kindergarten classes had a royal tea party and ball to celebrate their learning about kings and queens and royal families.

What a way to wrap up the first semester! We had the absolute best time celebrating with a school-wide PJ Day—everyone looked cozy and ready for a nap! 🥱✨
But the highlight of the day? We had a surprise visit from The Grinch himself! Luckily, our holiday spirit was so high that even his heart grew three sizes today. ❤️

We can hardly believe it, but tomorrow, Friday, December 19, 2025, marks the official end of the 1st semester! 🎒✨
To celebrate all the hard work our students have put in, tomorrow will be PJ Day! 💤 Students are invited to come to school in their favorite (school-appropriate) pajamas to relax and enjoy the final day of the year. Please wear appropriate shoes for recess and keep all blankets and stuffed animals at home for the day. 🧸🛌
We are incredibly proud of the amazing growth every single student has made this semester. From mastering new skills to building friendships, it has been a joy to watch them shine! 🌟📈

Our Preschool classes have wrapped up their fall Forest Friday field trips to Doane! This is such a fun experience for our students, and we are extremely grateful for the collaboration that we have with Doane to provide such a fun opportunity! We look forward to our Forest Friday field trips in the spring!

Elementary students are working to learn coding vocabulary and writing their own algorithms in computer science class. Not only are the students working hard, but they are having fun too!
