Orientation For Adult Education Classes

Need to learn English, earn your high school diploma, or improve your basic reading, writing, or math skills? We can help! Do something good for yourself and your family by joining one of our classes. Classes are FREE!  Click on the link below to place your name on the adult education classes orientation list for ELA (English class), Adult Basic Education, or GED preparation.  If you need assistance, please stop by our office at Cardinal Welcome Center, 930 Main Avenue, Crete, NE 68333 or call (402) 826-5855 between 7:30 AM and 4:30 PM. You will receive information about orientation in the mail.

Class Schedule

Adult Basic Education:  8:00a.m.-10:15 a.m., Monday, Wednesday, and Friday

English Language Acquisition:  10:30 a.m.-1:00 p.m., Monday, Wednesday, and Friday

GED Prep:  8:15 a.m.-11:15 a.m., Tuesday and Thursday

Family Literacy:  8:15 a.m.-11:15 a.m., Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday

English Language Acquisition, Adult Basic Education, and GED Prep:  6:00 p.m.-8:30 p.m., Monday and Thursday

Volunteers Needed

Looking for something productive to do with your free time?  Looking to give back to the community?  Want an engaging volunteer experience?  Crete Public Schools Adult Education Program is looking for adult volunteers to assist in the ELA, Adult Basic Education, and GED preparation classrooms!

No experience is necessary, but individuals must have:

  • a high school diploma,

  • a good command of English,

  • the ability to speak clearly and hear well,

  • a willingness to assist adult learners, some of which could have learning disabilities,
    patience to allow students to achieve on their own, and

  • a positive attitude!

Volunteers work closely with instructors and may be asked to teach small groups of students or give individual instruction. Volunteers may assist with attendance, testing, and other classroom duties.
