There will be no school for students from Thursday, October 1, through Monday, October 5. Students will return on Tuesday, October 6, on a normal schedule.

CPS Families

Several Nebraska school districts have recently reported a phone scam aimed at parents, and I want you to know what to watch for.

How the scam works: A parent gets a call from an unknown number. The caller says they work at the school, often as a counselor or another staff member, and claims the parent's child is in trouble or in an emergency. The caller then tells the parent to meet at a certain location to pick up their child. They may also tell the parent to stay on the line and not to talk to anyone else.

These calls are fake. Crete Public Schools staff will never:

• Ask you to meet at a secret, undisclosed, or off-campus location to pick up your child

• Tell you to keep a situation secret or stop you from contacting other people

• Pressure you to stay on the phone instead of calling the school yourself

If you get a call like this:

• Hang up.

• Call your child's school directly, using the number on our website. Don't use a number the caller gives you.

• Report the call to local law enforcement and let the school know, so we can spot patterns and share them with the right authorities.

Be careful with any call from an unknown number that creates urgency or pushes you to act right away. This scam isn't new, but it keeps showing up in different communities, and knowing about it is one of the best ways to stop it.

Crete Staff, Students, Parents, and Community

As part of our commitment to maintaining high-quality facilities for our students and community, we would like to inform you of the summer closures for key field areas.

Effective immediately, the following fields will be closed through the summer:

• The football/soccer field/track located by the Intermediate School

• The Softball Field

• The practice fields on the east (new practice fields) side of Iris Avenue

These closures are necessary to prevent damage, allow for turf regrowth, and ensure the fields are fully rejuvenated and ready for the 2026–2027 school year.

We appreciate your understanding and cooperation in helping us preserve these important spaces for future use.

Please note: The practice fields located behind the high school remain open to the public throughout the summer.

Summer hours from June 1 to July 31, 2026, for all CPS buildings will be:

Monday–Thursday: 7:30 AM–4:00 PM

Friday: 7:30 AM–2:00 PM
